Everwood Ink

Behind The Scenes Questions

So, what's the deal, really?

Hi! We're Everwood Ink, a university project built around producing and advertising a comics publishing house. Our task was to create, produce, and advertise a comic anthology, and to build up an online presence for our work. We're all a deeply ambitious bunch, so we decided to incorporate an interactive element into this project, by creating a fictional company and lore to commit to and styling it after modern ARGs and corporate-styled mystery/horror stories. Our social media presence, and eventually convention presence, is all themed around this idea. We wanted to engage our audience on a more personal level, as well as having a bit of fun! We hope you all enjoy our silly little gimmick that we've massively overdedicated ourselves to.

So none of this is real?

Categorically not. This is a university project, and all the posts you see from us are creative writing/artworks from us. Please don't get yourselves hurt on our part.

What are some inspirations for this project?

The project is primarily inspired by ARG projects, analog horror, and other in-character or interactive social media presences. Prominent examples include TheSunDisappeared, Welcome Home, and Twitter Updates (kind of). Alongside that, we have a long list of inspirations:

  • Gravity Falls
  • Five Nights At Freddy's
  • Lethal Company
  • The Magnus Archives/Protocol
  • SCP Foundation
  • Creepypastas
  • Welcome to Night Vale
  • The Blair Witch Project
  • Marble Hornets
  • The Mandela Catalogue
  • Twin Peaks
  • The Gothic Horror genre

There's likely more, due to our large group size, too! If something reads like a reference to a piece of media, it just might be.

So who are you guys, really?

We're a group of 8 students from Staffordshire University's Cartoon and Comic Arts course! It's pretty cool. Specifically, the site is managed by Jackson (he/any). Hey, that's me! Hi! Hope you like the setup! We'll be adding proper information, including our social links, as time goes on.

Why is this bit here?

Jackson can't work out how to stop the pagedoll covering text. :[
